Charities

Issue I:

For our inaugural, quarantine-themed issue, we are proud to say that we donated 70% of the proceeds from submission fees to Doctors Without Borders, and we were able to purchase a website domain with the remaining funds.

Doctors Without Borders outlines their mission as "provid[ing] impartial medical relief to the victims of war, disease, and natural or man-made disaster, without regard to race, religion, or political affiliation." This money will go to supporting individuals with COVID-19 around the world that likely don't have sufficient medical care or other resources to stay safe during the pandemic.

Through the submissions that we received for Issue I, we were able to both support each other through the written word and through much needed medical support. For this, we are so thankful to each of you for submitting!

Issue II:

For our second, kalopsia-themed issue, we donated the majority of the proceeds to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.

The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation outlines their mission as "alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research." This money will go to researching the causes and potential cures to a wide array of mental illnesses ranging from addiction to anxiety to bipolar disorder.

Issue III:

For our third, kalopsia-themed issue, we will be donating the majority of the proceeds to the Lighthouse Writers Workshop

If you would like to contribute, please head over to the "Submit" tab for more details about how to submit your writing or art to our magazine!

Lighthouse aims to support writers and promote literacy and artistic endeavours. The money would offer scholarships to underprivileged children and adults, so they could attend these workshops and also enjoy and feel empowered bt the written word. Donations also allow their programs to continue running for all individuals regardless of background. Since writing and art are two of the most powerful tools to share unique perspectives and worldviews, we thought it fitting to donate the proceeds to this cause.
